While everyone was enjoying their much-needed long weekend last Sunday, I was at school insisting our teacher to cut the classes at 12 noon lol. Yes, my half-hearted self still went to school even after texting our counselor twice if we really have classes. Naturally, she said “Yes, we have classes.” Twice.
BTW: Photo above - what I wore to school. My shirt says “Umasa nang ayon sa ganda.” Lols.
On day 3, we discussed very interesting topics which I have been over curious of since the day I was introduced to Photoshop: Photo Restoration and Retouching. When I was younger and strolling at the mall during weekends was still a requirement, I seem to remember looking at different sample display of this particular photo studio and wondering how do they do it. Photos that were digitally restored - like removing fold marks, dirt and smears, restoring missing areas and restoring color and tone. Well, I was lucky on that dreaded school day and I now have had my curiousity answered.
Our first task was to correct color balance of this Scralet Johansen photo. And as if Scarlet Johansen was not gorgeous enough, we were also asked to eliminate scars and wrinkles and put make-up on her face. And tada! The new and improved Scarlet Johansen. Now I know why women on FHM look so gorgeous and perfect. As my teacher said, “For flawless skin, use Photoshop.” he said, though, that guys from FHM overdo it.

The most eye-straining task we did that day was restoring and coloring this black and white photo. To know that we can actually turn black and white photos to color really amuses me. It takes, however, a keen eye, patience and painstaking effort to do it.

Say this photo, it took me the whole afternoon to eliminate the marks, emphasize details and restore the color for a true-to-life look. And this is just a simple photo! For that, I was not able to finish our last task - make Megan Fox flawless lol and put her on a magazine cover,

So this unfinished work now becomes a homework. Meeeh.
How was your long weekend?
