Random Stuff in My Room

Last weekend, I did some major cleaning of my room after 5 long months. During the previous months, my room had been tortured by rain leak stains which can be found anywhere in my ceiling or wall, thick dust, accumulated fallen hair on bedroom corners and pests including cockroaches and mice. Yikes. Getting rid of all the clutter is always a burden because I have too much stuff (mostly useless stuff that holds sentimental value) inside the room. So, instead of doing this genereal cleaning weekly or monthly, I only do it when I already have the heart to abuse and torture myself a.k.a. every quarter.

Anyway, one adavantage of cleaning my bedroom is I get to rummage through old stuff. I get to stroll down memory lane with old photos, notes and letters, which by the way causes delay in the cleaning process. Lol. Here are some of the interesting stuff I found while I was trying to clean my room:

Cassette tapes of my favorite boybands. LOL. Boybands define music during my elementary days. Few of my favorites are Boyzone, 98 Degrees and 5ive. During those times, cassette tapes cost Php 150 each. I remember skippng lunch and merienda to save for the latest albums of these guys. I was so crazy about Boyzone and Stephen Gately. It broke my heart when I found out that he was gay.

Look at my spelling skills! Haha. I put labels on my cassette tapes because friends always borrow them from me. One time, a neighbor removed the label on my cassette tape and put his own name on it. WTF, right? That was one of my Backstreet Boys album.

An original DVD copy of my favorite movie, Cruel Intentions. I first saw this movie when I was still in highschool. I found the story very strong and interesting, and I felt so down when Sebastian died. The ending was so strong with Bittersweet Symphony by Oasis as the background music. But when I watched it again last year, I got bored.

My favorite photo of the boyfriend. He gave me this when we were still in college and I was still single lol. He texted me if we could meet at lunch time because he had something to give me. At the back of the photo he wrote: “SMILE. ‘Wag mo ko kalimutan kapag bigtime ka na. Rap.” It was so random. I was actually expecting that he would treat me for lunch he left too soon. Lesson learned: Girls, don’t expect. Lol.

Some of the things I can’t let go - classcards, Form 5s, concert tickets, receipts, etc. These represent my colorful college days. I miss UP. <3

I also have letting go issues about my college readings. This is our module in Korean 11 and Korean 12. Yes, I took up Korean language back in college. It got wet in the rain but I still think that I will need this in the future so I’m still keeping it along with my other favorite readings. FYI, I don’t speak Korean launguage fluently. Actually, I don’t understand it at all. Lol.

I you’ll ask me how my cleaning went, please don’t because it didn’t happen. I tried but rummaging through old stuff was more fun. So, I am scheduling another general cleaning of my room next month and there is one rule that must be followed: “No more walking down memory lane.” Heh.
