Staycation

Staycation, as tweeted by Tim Yap,  is staying at home to enjoy the silence of the city as opposed to crowded airports, delayed flights and overcrowded beach spots. Use in a sentence: We go on staycation every holy week and it never fails. True story.

For some reason, my parents do not like going out during holy week. We just stay at home and enjoy what home has to offer. Basically, we just sit around, eat, sleep, talk, watch crappy romantic movies on cable and sleep some more. It gets tiring after a while even if you are not actually doing anything. I don’t know how it happens but it just gets boring.

But truth be told, I was supposed to conquer Mt. Batulao, along with the boyfriend and his cousins on Good Friday. It was planned way before Holy Week and I’ve been so excited about it. I’ve been thinking about it every night, googling proper hiking attire many times and reading about hiking do’s and dont’sduring office hours. But my parents didn’t allow me to go beacuse they have this rule that no one is allowed to go out during holy week. It sucks sometimes because I’m already 24 but I kind of understand their Holidays vs. Holy Days concept. And there were other lame excuses like: My skin is so dark already; I’m skinny so I can’t do it; and Taal Volcano will erupt anytime soon. So I gave up.

Also, the boyfriend got sick the day before hiking day. It seems like Vertigo but we still hav to see a doctor for EENT. I hope he gets well soon. </3

So, aside from sleeping and eating and listening to Mama how she hates the Barreto sisters, these what kept me busy during the staycation. The internet got a little boring for some reason so I tried to stay away from it and do more productive things instead like reading a book. Tada!

I read The Perks of Being A Wallflower because I’ve been hearing about it since last year. It was an incredible read but I am just bothered that my younge sisters and cousins are reading it too. The story includes drugs and sex in highschool setting! Am I too old-fashioned? Lol. Spoiler alert: I had too google if Aunte Helen molested Charlie because I didn’t want to believe it that way. Google said yes and it made me sad for awhile.

Then I had my fair share of romantic flicks too: Let the Love Begin, Paano na Kaya, In My Heart blah blah.

Anyway, it was too hot these past few days. I’ve had too much sweets just to fight off summer heat: 5 cones of Cornetto, 4 cups of iced coffee and 4 cups of iced chocolate drink in just 3 days. Too bad that my heart palpitates real fast whenever I drink too much coffee. By “too much,” I mean more than one cup. Oh, how I hate this feeling of unusually strong heartbeat and cold sweats. Nevertheless, it was all a good kind of happy.

How was your vacation?
